Faith Vincent was born in Oldham, Lancashire and brought up in Sheffield, Yorkshire. She studied Foundation at Manchester, Painting BA at Brighton followed by MA at the Slade. Early in her career she was awarded a Wingate Scholarship to study buon fresco under Prof Leonetto Tintori at Laboratorio per Affresco di Prato, Italy. For years she wrote and delivered Buon Fresco Courses from her London studio. Her work has been exhibited widely and she amongst other things has been featured in ID magazine, Artist Newsletter and used as a backdrop for dance on the BBC. She has worked as a fresco consultant for Bodely Head Publications and has been a visiting and part-time lecturer on Chelsea MA, and BA at Leeds Uni, Byam Shaw and Hallam Uni (Sheffield) as well as various Foundations. She is currently a tutor on Drawing for Artists and Makers, Extended Practice at City Lit in Covent Garden. In 2001 she had a yoga accident that left her unable to speak or move from the neck down. While recovering, unable to work in the studio, she turned to writing. Her poetry was published in Aubin and Wills Almenac 2011. The transience and contemplation of her current work seems to reflect both this retrieval process and the fragility of the human experience. Under such constraints the act of making can seem almost an audacious act, but also one that celebrates the resilience of the human condition. Her work is in collections in Europe and US.
